My work explores beauty and movement using the female figure and animal forms as subject matter. Some of my figures are slightly elongated to emphasise elegance, some exude calm and serenity while others give the impression of communication and purpose. Humour also plays a part.
With all of my sculptures l am looking to achieve a balanced composition with striking features, fluid lines, energy and a sense of motion. I work with body language and facial expression to present a mood or emotion and use the texture of the clay, highlighted with stains, glaze and oxides, to help define and enhance the pose.
I work from my studio in the beautiful Eden Valley in Cumbria. Adjoining my studio is Kirk Neuk Gallery where l display an extensive range of my work.We are open most days and you are very welcome to visit!
